Inspiring the Next Generation

We started doing inspirational boards together as a family about 4 years ago - thanks to the encouragement of one of our dear teachers and friends. We were getting ready to embark on a new adventure, and we were encouraged to bring our whole family into the vision of moving home to Colorado.

In each person’s own way, we visualized what that next year of transition would look like. I was amazed at how “into it” our kids were.

It’s now become a ritual in our family. We do it together at the start-ish of each year and it’s something each of us looks forward to. There are absolutely NO RULES (which included this year - supplies being left out for over a month. The tidy robot in me was like “must-clean-immediately” 🤖🤪😳🫠). We encourage the kids to put things they’d like to focus on for the year, and we work alongside one another, or go at our own pace based on time. They see our inspirations and we see theirs. Then we set our finished product somewhere in our own personal space to come back to each day/week/month.

Each year they build upon what they did last year - that includes me. Until this year, I was scared 💩-less to get too specific because of my own fear of failure.

When I started Radiant Rituals, one of my biggest visions was to demystify what a “ritual” really meant, and to bring meaning into our day-to-day lives. It doesn’t have to be a spiritual practice- it’s living life with our people. Sitting together with each other and dreaming. With no rules or expectations of the outcomes.

Whether or not everyone does it next year? I don’t know, but I’ll keep showing up with the supplies and sitting at the table. And I imagine my kids will show up in their own way as they get older, but it might look different each year, and THAT’S OKAY.

If getting crafty isn’t your style, or this just seems like way too much - no problemo. I get it! My Type-A-Cleaner -Upper-Make-It-Look-Just-Right alter ego totally gets you! You could simply sit around the table at dinner and talk about things like:

  1. What you’re looking forward to this year/month/week

  2. What you’d like to work on this year/month/week- sports, personal, health, business, etc.

  3. 3 words that describe how you want to show up this year/month/week

Either way - our actions, words, and visions are so powerful- we’ve seen the stats. And I believe that’s what guided us back to Colorado - at the right time, to the right job, to the right neighborhood. Whether you do some type of ritual like this individually, with your family, significant other, or friends - it’s worth it!

Looking for a ritual to keep you sparking through the year? We have you covered.
